James Buescher and the No. 30 Chevy Head to Bristol After Earning a 14th Place Finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
James Buescher drove the No. 30 Chevrolet to a 14th place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Nationwide Series event on March 10.
Buescher started Saturday’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway from the 11th position, and early on in the race he battled an extremely loose condition. At the halfway point of the event, Buescher had the No. 30 Chevy positioned in the 14th spot and was poised to make a run towards the front. He described his car as edgy and was really having to back up his corners to keep his machine from spinning out. He searched the 1.5-mile Nevada speedway for different lines hoping to find grip.
The team made their final pit stop of the day under the sixth caution period. They bolted on four perfectly matched Goodyear tires and filled their car with enough racing fuel to get to the end of the event. The perfectly executed stop helped Buescher pick up valuable track position.
The race was again put under the green flag on lap 149and the No. 30 car was positioned in the 15th spot. Buescher radioed into his team on lap 155 explaining that the car was as good as it had been all day and he was finally able to be aggressive on entry. Buescher survived the final 40 laps to take the checkered flag in the 14th position.
“Today was all about team work,” said Buescher after the race. “We struggled all day with a very loose race car and [crew chief] Trent Owens and all the guys on this Turner Motorsports Chevrolet never gave up. We kept adjusting on it and came home with a solid top-15. We are working really hard on our mile-and-a-half package and I think we learned a lot today. We just need to continue to build on our program.”
The NASCAR Nationwide Series is back in action March 17 in Thunder Valley. The 300-lap event at Bristol Motor Speedway can be seen live on ESPN with race coverage beginning at 1 pm EST. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 90.
