Buescher Wins NASCAR Nationwide Series DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway
“What a day,” James Buescher said. “I can’t believe I am standing in victory lane at Daytona! This is amazing.”
Indeed it was. Buescher avoided a crash on the last lap at the February 25th season-opening NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) to capture his first career NASCAR victory.
Buescher and the No. 30 Chevrolet team opened the 2012 season at the “World Center of Speed” with high expectations for a strong performance. The team felt like they brought a car to DIS capable of competing for the victory.
“We had an up and down day. We knew we had the speed to run up front but needed a drafting partner to get there. I saw the wreck happening in front of me, and I just turned my car to the bottom of the race track,” Buescher said, referring to a last-lap, multi-car crash that opened his path to victory.
“This is truly a team effort. All the guys at Turner Motorsports have really worked on our superspeedway package and it has paid off. All three Turner Motorsports teams were fast right off the truck. I am just so lucky to drive for such a great team in Turner Motorsports. Steve and Sandra Turner have given me such an amazing opportunity and I am so glad to be able to share this day with them.”
The NASCAR Nationwide Series is back in action next Saturday at Phoenix International Raceway. The Bashas Supermarket 250 can be seen live on ESPN2 with race coverage beginning at 4 pm EST. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 90.
